Cobbler Mountain Cider

Identity, packaging, website

Cobbler Mountain Cider approached Pig Iron to update the brand’s packaging, identity and website to truly reflect the location and mission of the unique cidery. We discovered first hand how much time and attention owners Laura and Jeff put into the land and animals of Cobbler Mountain, and how truly special the location is to them. Our solution was to convey that energy and passion using vibrant colors and quirky custom illustrations, all unified by common brand elements and styles. Each package features illustrations of the different ingredients found in each cider variety, paired with animals that can be found on the grounds of Cobbler Mountain. The updated logo features a simple flat apple shape (to contrast with the intricate illustrations) and introduces new brand fonts, Butcher and Block and Olivier. The knot motif seen on the bottle neck labels is a reworked version of a client-supplied design that adorns the property and existing merchandise. The “Scrumpy” elf character appears throughout the brand, and was also supplied by the client.

The Cobbler Mountain website leverages the illustrations and whimsical colors found on the cider packaging in an easy to navigate one-page design. The Tastings and Events section pulls data from events created by Cobbler Mountain on Facebook, for one-stop ease of use both for customers and brand managers alike. Events are automatically sorted into “At the Cidery” and “Offsite” based on the location of the Facebook event. An exhaustive list of cider varieties follows, with headline colors pulled directly from each product. The website is fully responsive and optimized for viewing on multiple devices. Viewers with large screens are in for a particular treat, as the illustrations extend far beyond the average screen’s viewport.
